RNIB is proud to announce the launch of its See Work Differently Programme. The programme is a paid placement scheme, aimed at supporting blind or partially sighted people to secure that first rung on the career ladder or who may be returning to the workplace. We therefore actively encourage applications from blind or partially sighted people to take part in this exciting new scheme.
Each placement is two days per week, for 9 weeks. The placement will hosted by the Employment services team and will involve rotation in different areas of RNIB giving participants a range of valuable work experience.
You may have a strong interest in customer service and looking to gain valuable experience working within the charity sector. You may also be keen to improve your existing workplace skills or develop new skills.
You’d be involved in in the practical aspects of each team’s work – you may be supporting employees’ queries, or you might be involved in providing information about RNIB products and services. You may also be asked to carry out research or create records on our case records management system. Whatever you’ll be doing, and whichever department you spend time in, you’ll be gaining invaluable skills and ensuring RNIB can deliver its ambitious business plans.
In order to be successful, you’ll need to be good communicator, be proactive and have great customer service skills. You’ll also have good standard of IT skills including MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel. You'll also have good attention to detail and organisational skills. We can provide support in the form of accessible tech to help get you started and of course, all the support you need to make this a successful placement.
The Employment team will be able to provide advice and information to support your search for employment or your next steps following the placement.
