RNIB is proud to announce the launch of its See Work Differently Programme. The programme is a paid placement scheme, aimed at supporting blind or partially sighted people to secure that first rung on the career ladder or who may be returning to the workplace. This particular placement will be with our Editorial team, lasting 8-12 weeks.
About the Role
Are you planning on a career in the media communications sector? Would you like to work within a busy content team to improve your journalism skills? Are you passionate about helping to support the sight loss community?
This is a great work placement opportunity to learn about how content delivery works within RNIB, the UKs largest sight loss charity.
The Stories Library team manage the real-life stories of our beneficiaries, volunteers and wider community. We deliver engaging content that is used to help promote our services and learn about the people we support. We do this by collating real life lived experiences of sight loss. We interview, edit and write up their stories and your role will be key in supporting the team.
You will be involved in helping to grow our case study library, which will involve training on planning and writing up interviews, building and developing communication skills to help promote the stories library internally through our social media channels.
You would be involved in in the practical aspects of writing and editing, working closely with the Content Editor to help support the wider team on a range of Campaigns. You should have excellent telephone and communication skills and will develop these further.

Who We're Looking For
You will have a strong interest in editorial/journalism and be looking to gain valuable experience working within the charity sector.
The successful applicant will have good standard of IT skills including experience with MS Office – Outlook/Word, excellent attention to detail and good communication and organisational skills with an interest in writing and editing copy.
