RNIB’s Northern Ireland Employment Team has an exciting opportunity to support blind and partially sighted people to gain, retain and sustain employment.
You will help deliver support through two distinct programmes. Eye Work Too, which provides pre-employment support and Workable NI, which provides job retention support.
You will develop and deliver tailored IT training to blind and partially sighted people to enhance their employability skills or help them retain their job. This will include introductory/taster sessions and progressive training leading to accreditation. The training will be delivered remotely although there may be occasions when 1:1 support is required for a specific training need.
This is a fixed term contract of one year, with the potential to be extended.
Please note that this role involves occasional travel across Northern Ireland, but is primarily remote working. While the ideal candidate would be based in Northern Ireland, we are be happy to accept applications from across the UK.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a person who is enthusiastic about helping RNIB's blind and partially sighted customers achieve their goal. You will have an ICT qualification equivalent to Degree Level, minimum ECDL or equivalent and achieved or be working towards an appropriate Assessors award. You will need experience of using a wide range of hardware, software and mobile technology and developing, preparing, training sessions and demonstrations. Due to the wide geographical spread of our customers, remote support using video conferencing tools such as Microsoft Teams is essential.
Experience of having worked with people with sight loss is not an essential requirement for the role but having an understanding of what sight loss is and how IT can support people in employment would be an advantage.
